The brennenstuhl® Multi Battery 18V System Pro allows compatible 18V power tool batteries from ten manufacturers to be used with selected brennenstuhl® work lights. Bosch Professional and AMPShare 18V batteries can be fitted directly, while suitable Multi Battery Pro adapters are available for other supported battery systems. This guide explains which 18V batteries are compatible, which adapter you need and how Multi Battery Pro differs from the previous generation. For more technical details on how the system works, see our guide “What is the brennenstuhl® Multi Battery 18V System Pro?”.
Which 18V battery systems are compatible with Multi Battery Pro?
The brennenstuhl® Multi Battery 18V System Pro supports compatible 18V power tool batteries in different Ah capacities from ten manufacturers:
- Bosch Professional
- DeWalt
- Einhell
- Fein
- Festool
- Flex
- HiKOKI
- Makita
- Metabo CAS
- Milwaukee
Depending on the battery system, the battery connects to the Multi Battery Pro work light either directly or via the appropriate adapter. Compatibility depends not only on the manufacturer but also on the specific 18V battery model.
Use Bosch Professional and AMPShare 18V batteries without an adapter
A key improvement in the Pro generation is the built-in connection for compatible Bosch Professional and AMPShare 18V batteries. These batteries can be used without an additional Multi Battery adapter. With the first Multi Battery generation, Bosch Professional batteries also required an interface adapter. Other supported battery systems connect using the corresponding brennenstuhl® Multi Battery Pro adapter.
Which Multi Battery Pro adapter fits which 18V battery?
The Multi Battery Pro adapter you need depends on your battery system. Compatible Bosch Professional and AMPShare 18V batteries do not require an additional adapter. Dedicated Pro adapters are available for the other supported manufacturers. The following compatibility chart shows which battery systems and adapters go together.

What should you check when choosing an adapter?
Before using an existing 18V power tool battery, check whether that specific battery is compatible with Multi Battery Pro, which adapter is required and whether your work light has the new Pro connection. You can find the relevant adapters and further product details in the product overview below.
Multi Battery vs Multi Battery Pro: what is the difference?
The underlying principle remains the same with Multi Battery 18V System Pro: existing compatible 18V power tool batteries from different manufacturers can power selected brennenstuhl® work lights. The Pro generation introduces improvements particularly to the connection between battery, adapter and work light.
| Multi Battery – first generation | Multi Battery 18V System Pro |
|---|---|
| Dedicated Multi Battery connection | Built-in connection for compatible Bosch Professional and AMPShare 18V batteries |
| Bosch Professional batteries require an interface adapter | Compatible Bosch Professional and AMPShare batteries fit directly |
| Previous-generation Multi Battery adapters | New brennenstuhl® Pro adapters for other compatible battery systems |
| Adapter inserted from above | Pro adapter slides in from the side and is mechanically guided and secured on both sides |
| Adapters for first-generation work lights | Pro adapters exclusively for Multi Battery Pro work lights |
What has changed with the adapter connection?
The new adapter mount provides a more mechanically stable connection between the adapter and work light. Pro adapters slide in from the side and are mechanically guided and secured on both sides. Compatible Bosch Professional and AMPShare batteries require no separate adapter at all. Multi Battery Pro also features an enhanced battery management system that helps protect the power tool battery against deep discharge, among other things. For further details, see “What is the Multi Battery 18V System Pro?”.
Are older Multi Battery adapters compatible with Multi Battery Pro?
No. Due to the redesigned adapter mount, previous-generation Multi Battery adapters are not compatible with new Multi Battery Pro work lights. The Pro generation requires the corresponding brennenstuhl® Pro battery adapters. Likewise, new Pro adapters are designed exclusively for Multi Battery Pro work lights and cannot be used with first-generation Multi Battery work lights. Compatible Bosch Professional and AMPShare 18V batteries fit directly into Multi Battery Pro work lights without an additional adapter.
Which Multi Battery Pro work lights are available?
The Multi Battery 18V System Pro is used in selected brennenstuhl® work lights. Choosing the right light depends on factors such as light output, design and working conditions. For an overview of Multi Battery cordless LED floodlights, handheld work lights and other task lights, including their features and applications, see our guide “Multi Battery Pro LED floodlights and work lights”.
Frequently asked questions about Multi Battery Pro battery compatibility
Can I use my existing 18V power tool battery with Multi Battery Pro?
Yes, provided that your specific 18V battery is compatible with Multi Battery Pro. Depending on the battery system, it connects either directly or using the appropriate brennenstuhl® Pro adapter.
Do Bosch Professional and AMPShare batteries need an adapter?
No. Compatible Bosch Professional and AMPShare 18V batteries fit into Multi Battery Pro work lights without an additional adapter because the connection is already built in.
Can I use a Multi Battery Pro adapter with an older Multi Battery work light?
No. New Multi Battery Pro adapters are designed exclusively for work lights with the new Pro connection. Adapters from the two generations are not interchangeable.
